In equating our intimate historic bonds to our mother country and to Canada with our ties to Mexico, W. shows a staggering ignorance of the civilizational facts of life. The reason we are so close to Britain and Canada is that we share with them a common historical culture, language, literature, and legal system, as well as similar standards of behavior, expectations of public officials, and so on. My Bush Epiphany By Lawrence Auster

Where does the American Indian stand in this equation, or Black (African)Americans. Or my husband's Spanish ancestors who were never residents of Mexico, but were Spaniard citizens before New Mexico became a part of this great union.

I understand your point, but yes, I consider it racist when the only ones that "belong" are Canadians (French) and Europeans.

I notice you don't ask where Americans stand? Is it too much for you be an American? Do you have to be an hyphenated American? Is that why Bush's watering down of our nationality doesn't bother you?

I am an American who wants to maintain our soveriegnty. It is a very liberal mindset to want to allow foreigners free reign in our country.

A motley collection of neolithic societies, exist as forign populations. Reread the Constitution and look at reservactions.
If anything, they are a warning as a group of peoples who failed to control immigration.

Black (African)Americans
They were slaves, not founders of our polity and nation. They are now Americans, but distinctly outside of the norm. The closer they move to the mores of Anglo-America the better we all are.

Or my husband's Spanish ancestors who were never residents of Mexico, but were Spaniard citizens before New Mexico became a part of this great union.
There is a difference between Americanized Spanish settlers who have been part of the US since its inception and the non-European populations of Mexico now invading.
