Shrill and dishonest? The truth is just the opposite.

Scroll up to RE:#217. Read it and then tell me that Bush's rhetoric is equal to his actions. Cong Tancredo and his fellow congressmen on the House Immigration Reform Caucus are attempting to get Bush and the other status quo Beltway politicos to stop ignoring the illegal immigration and open borders problems that exist today. If you can't see that, then you must be another Bush apologizer and sycophant.

Keeping America competitive requires an immigration system that upholds our laws, reflects our values, and serves the interests of our economy. Our Nation needs orderly and secure borders. To meet this goal, we must have stronger immigration enforcement and border protection. And we must have a rational, humane guest worker program that rejects amnesty ... allows temporary jobs for people who seek them legally ... and reduces smuggling and crime at the border.

This is an excerpt from President Bush's SOTU speech. But Tancredo writes, "Sadly, the President missed yet another great opportunity to correct his course on immigration reform tonight. The President should have clarified his plan and joined the forces in Congress holding the line against amnesty. Instead, Americans will have to wait and wonder where the President stands on securing our borders, while he pushes for guest workers."

What part of "...that rejects amnesty" did Tancredo not understand?

I want our borders secured; I want immigration ENFORCEMENT, and yes, that means going after our own citizens who hire ILLEGAL aliens; I want immigrants to only be allowed into this country LEGALLY, through the proper paper and security-check channels; I believe that a "Guest Worker" program CAN work; and I am AGAINST any AMNESTY program. The President agrees.
