I was really curious what differences Hildy saw in the two cases (and asked her, politely). Before too long she told us. The whole difference, she explained, was Haleigh had been PVS for only 4 months, whereas Terri had been PVS for "17" years.

One reply to this is that PVS patients hardly ever last 15 years. The long duration of her condition is therefore excellent evidence that Terri was not PVS (as so many physicians, nurses and others observed).

It is also worth noting that Haleigh was not declared to be PVS, but rather "virtually PVS." That's weasel wording portraying her as a candidate for snuffing but admitting she wasn't that bad. Use the magic word "PVS," then you get to kill her! Somebody couldn't wait to carve Haleigh up for body parts. An abused child like that, who'd miss her?

Similarities: neither was really PVS. Both were victims of severe trauma.

Difference: We think we know who beat Haleigh. Nobody is offering any theory how Terri was suddenly brain-damaged and left for dead in 1990. (Nobody but us Freepers, anyway.)
