Our friends at Not Dead Yet are back into this fray. The trolls, detractors, death lovers and assorted lefties constantly try to squeeze us Terri fighters into one of their little constrictive boxes so they can define us. We are supposed to be right wing extremist fundamentalist Christian kooks and clowns.

Instead, so many others have joined in, and Not Dead Yet is a group that confounds their definitions. Must drive them bonkers like the Alito nomination.

Excerpt:

If the court order had not been appealed, Haleigh Poutre would now be dead, said Diane Coleman, Not Dead Yet's founder and president.

Coleman said that specifically, investigations are imperative into :

"How doctors at Baystate Medical could be so wrong in their "arrogant and hasty diagnosis" that Haleigh had "no chance of recovering cognitive or sensate functioning," and that she "cannot hear, feel, or respond." The doctors presented their diagnosis as established medical fact, whereas any prognosis following a brain injury must be provisional. These doctors must answer to charges of incompetence and negligence. Furthermore, have these doctors withdrawn life-support in similar circumstances in the past? Do they have expertise regarding brain injuries?

Not Dead Yet Seeks Probe of Haleigh Poutre Case

Haleigh is remembered here, too, as this article from the Boston Globe illustrates:

136 years after his death, the faithful still flock to the grave of a young priest, seeking help

An enduring shrine to hope

Very good article. The author points out the indifference of these medical practioners. I would say incompetence, but I think they know exactly what they're doing.

I know how they could present such a diagnosis. Haleigh had nobody who loved her. Nobody to speak up on her behalf. Nobody to tell the world she was about to be bioethicked. And yet, somebody blabbed.

I don't think they expected anyone to listen to a man who was about to be charged with her murder. I don't think they expected him to be smart enough to speak out, let alone be believed. And I don't think they expected her biological mother to care one way or the other what happened to her.

This was supposed to be very secret. I wonder how many other unloved abused children are secreted away to the euthanasia centers.

Diane Coleman and Not Dead Yet are spot on. There is a segment of the society that has become just too impatient about cessation of care for people it deems "hopeless". It's worse treatment than convicted murderers get.
