Republicans run on the limited government platform. There is no such thing as limited government, but it sounds good. They warn us that power corrupts, then they get into office and prove it by being corrupted.
The Democrats have no such problems. They have no convictions to begin with, except "get yours." They positively wallow in the rush to corrupt and to be corrupted.

There is another factor as well. We Republicans of years back agreed on these many values we still share today, but we gained little traction. Some of our crowd took bigger steps, and were quickly rewarded with prominence and fame. It is a bit (or more) like selling one's soul. The taste of power trumps the taste of money and is addictive.
A new and foreign concept grows, that of compromise. Compromise just a little, get a big reward. And you are launched into the new level of power. Some cleaved mostly to original convictions and still did well, a rare thing indeed.

I wouldn't call spending like a shipful of drunken sailors is what republicans ever envisioned. The money is all going overseas. How can you have limited government where there is taxation without representation? Surely, when Terri was murdered last year, date of death March 31, 2005, we were subject to taxation without representation. Our dollars paid people in govt to facilitate, promote, deceive, point guns at Vigilers and then killed her after torturing her.
Florida is STILL the STARVATION STATE.
