I hate speeches -- it doesn't matter who's giving them -- I find them boring and it's really hard to stay awake.
I rely on the Cliff Notes version on FR. >>>>
Me too. As much as I loved Reagan, his soft, grandfatherly voice put me to sleep, I'm yawning just thinking about it. And it was Reagan, (don't forget his birthday is coming up on the 6th) who, as an actor, made the address more of a show than a constitutional requriement by starting the tradition of introducing "citizens". I think his first was mother hale, a nice lady who did nice things (caring for babies with AIDS after she passed her daughter stole many of the donations); however, that was not the forum for that and ever since, all the POTUS' have done the same.
What ever happened to the good old days when the POTUS did his job and just submitted a letter?

What ever happened to the good old days when the POTUS did his job and just submitted a letter?I never heard of that. Sounds like a righteous plan to me.
