Wasn't there a thread going at DU about having all the Democrats get up and walk out during the speech? What happened to that plan?
Also, did the pots and pans banging outside actually happen? I got the kids put to bed seconds before the speech started and missed some of the pre-speech excitement!

It's not nearly as many applause interrupts as other SOTU speeches -- especially X42's, but he went on forever to ensure it. IMO
Also I'd rather analyze the President's words with everyone here, and not obsess over what the talking heads say... I have them on mute!
Thanks everyone for the company!

I asume your comment about Luddite Bush was a joke.Actually a sarcastic jab at my evo pals, this Luddite creationist also favors funding the hard sciences even if there are hard scientists I could do without. :-}

"With less support" was a new stipulation to make my comment look more correct. LOL

Im betting on a US Canadian alliance to neuter the middle east EhOh Gosh, it's been a long night, I'm sorry! This is exactly what I'm hoping for.
Somehow I read a "US Chinese" alliance.
My goodness.. I am so sorry but back to your original post...yeah, I think this will happen. I think it can happen and there are a lot of powerful people who want it to happen.
Harper had to do a little "Alpha male" stuff with his words on the Arctic; that's because one reason he doesn't have a majority is b/c people are so afraid of GW Bush.
But, with time, I hope and pray that we can get our collective North American act together in the face of very serious threats to our common values.

I spent the past year working in a town chock full of undocumented residents, from Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras etc. I dealt with a lot of them daily in my business. They were, for the most part, very good people. However it is alarming that all of them were able to walk right into the US, get on a coyote bus in TX or AZ and ride straight here to GA, rent housing, buy cars, get cell phones and immediate employment with no form of ID whatsoever.
What worries me is that if these people can do it with little more than a suitcase and a few dollars, how easy is it for terrorists to do the same? Much easier for someone with lots of money and helpers, I would wager.

I'm on Fox too. Fred Barnes is the only one who is bringing up the points. These people are idiots. Mort Kondracke's comments are ridiculous. My kids would do a superior job to these guys. Negative people. I don't like this woman either. Ugh.

How is saying God Bless America establishing a religion troll?

There is a clear difference between illegal and legal immigrants. Unfortunately people like you don't seem able to see it. No, it's people like you who didn't understand what was said tonite.
You have no idea where I stand on immigration issues.

What did Kristol say about Iran?
I have never heard President Bush sound more confident and self-assured. No fear, no hesitation. This is an inwardly coherent and supremely focused leader.
Unlike the Dems.

YES I did,and it's too bad that the lasers from Presidents Bush's eyes were only figurative, because the Congressional rats so deserve to have their flesh melted from their bones!

Funny thing is that MSNBC is praising the speech. Go figure. Not Norah O'Donald (sp) i think I heard her say it was the worst speach.

One thing about "high-wage jobs" however, that is politically incorrect but NEEDS to be said. All these people making those big wages still need someone to flip their burgers. I really hate it when people say that everyone needs to go to college, etc. Not every one needs to, and not everyone should.
