Really?

I've read that less than a third-if that-Republicans in that state support him.

In fact, it says on Laffey's website that more Republicans support Jake Reed, which doesn't surprise me in the least.

How can he possibly win a GOP primary against a popular, conservative Republican mayor?

I absolutely want Laffey to win.

But IIRC not only Republicans can participate in the primary. If you are a registered voter but not identified as any party, you can select the primary in which you vote and then unenroll again after you've cast your primary vote.
