Calm down - Unison is a manufacturer, and sometimes manufacturers deal with radioactive materials.
Unison Industries makes aviation ignitions.
You're going to fight people at Unison Industries?
Keep updating...
Are they thinking that it's an accident or terrorism?
Here's a linked story: http://www.firstcoastnews.com/news/topstories/news-article.aspx?storyid=50598
See my #15.
If true, gloves and radiation suits need to be put on right now!
This is what they manufacture (from their web page) not sure were radioactive material would come into play unless
it is terrorism
Alternators, Generators and Controls
Unison Industries manufactures alternators in its Jacksonville, FL and Norwich, NY operations. Unison manufactures many different types of alternators including permanent magnet alternators (PMA) for turbine engines, permanent magnet generators (PMG) for industrial applications and ignition generators for Tomahawk cruise missiles. Complimenting Unison's product line of alternators is its line of starter-generators and generator control units for business/commuter jet, helicopter and military applications. Unison manufactures its line of starter-generators at Aircraft Parts Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Unison Industries, in Holtsville, Long Island, NY. In addition, Unison manufactures turbine and piston engine controls in its Jacksonville, FL and Rockford, IL operations. Products such as power conditioning and control units (PCCU) are manufactured in Jacksonville, FL while piston engine controls such as Unison's LASAR® digital engine control system is manufactured in Unison's Rockford, IL operation.
Would they x-ray equipment for examining welds or something?
Don't forget to decontaminate before going home from work....
Talk about your knee-jerk reactions....
Thank you!
Some people are such drama queens.
Sorry. I re-read the article. Appears that this was NOT terrorist related, at this point. I guess I'm always a bit suspect in these times.
Radiation is often used in sensing and testing for quality control to find microscopic flaws in welds. In a company like this, that deals with aviation, I would not be surprised if that were the source.
Thanks, OX ... sounds like it's under control and no major risk factors .. if I'm reading it correctly.
"If true...the gloves need to COME OFF NOW!!"
Huh? The radiation comes from the company. Lots of companies deal with radioactive materials. In reality, people will probably be putting their gloves on to work on the cleanup. Wait for the information, and you'll find out the truth, OK?
See post 34.
A lot of manufacturers use low-level sources in their manufacturing processes. If the report that it's a beta source is accurate, it's really a non-issue.
Why are you reporting this nonsense?
