As a TV news guy, I don't like the way information about this is being released, or should I say not being released. The ABCNEWS story hasn't really been updated in hours, and the statement from David Westin is way too terse. Not quite "this'll hold 'em over until we notify the familes" terse, but pretty close.

I hope to God I'm completely misreading the signals on this, but in my heart, I know that they'd be a lot more verbose about this incident if they knew for sure Woodruff was going to be okay.

Man ... he hasn't even been anchor for a month yet. And he's got four kids.

From the ABC report-The U.S. military confirmed that Woodruff and Vogt were injured in an attack near Taji and said an investigation is under way.

These investigations take time. Any time there are civilian casualties, they have to be extremely thorough. We must also consider the language barrier, since they were in an Iraqi vehicle. And there is a distinct need to maintain operational security. It will likely be an agonizing 2-3 days for these families.

Could be that the surgery is lasting a long time...that happens.

They should air evac them to Germany as soon as they are stabilized.
