I haven't read anything here on FR or seen anything on Fox about "an alternative State of the Union event"..
But, it doesn't surprise me that they will have one...and if we are lucky, we will be able to find Kerry, Hillary, and others there...if they follow through on the threat to boycott the SOTU address..
It's an alternative State of the Union for those living in an alternative universe. Kinda like Arianna Huffinton's Shadow Convention...it was there but really undefined.
This is what I want to know: Just who is paying for shipping her all across the globe? Let me see - Crawford to Washington to Argentina back to the States now off to Venezuela. With extensive tours of both the United States and Europe thrown in as well!
Somewhere in all this "grassroots protesting" I sense funds being slipped in by the DNC.
I'm thinking she'll be at the SOTU pre-buttal event in Washington on the afternoon of the day of the SOTU address itself.
It's sort of like the basement hearings. They are running their own alternative shadow government.

Cindy Sheehan to protest at State of the Union January 31
On January 31st , we will be in Washington, DC for the State of the Union address when George gets in front of Congress and the world and lies through his teeth about how great everything is going in Iraq and here at home. His idiotic policies have ruined Iraq and New Orleans and made the world a more dangerous place...allowing that terrorist attacks have tripled world wide since he decided to "fight them over there." He also may be laying the ground work for further acts of needless aggression against Syria and Iraq. GSFP (Gold Star Families for Peace)and representatives from other peace organizations and refugees from New Orleans will be gathering in DC to give the "Real State of the Union." Check our website for place and time.
* January 31, 2006 The People's State of the Union Address in Washington D.C. Come join peace activist such as Cindy Sheehan and Ann Wright as they deliever the true State of the Union. More details will be coming soon.

The Bush administration has expanded the special security zone around the Capitol, effectively denying a meaningful public space for a protest called by World Cant Wait-Drive Out the Bush Regime during the State of the Union address on January 31, 2006. This action, one of many held simultaneously that night at 8pm EST in cities and towns across the country, calls for symbolically drowning out Bushs lies and demands BUSH STEP DOWN.
At a meeting on January 10 with the National Park Service Police, Capitol Police, and National Parks Department, the World Cant Wait was offered the area surrounding the Capitol Reflecting Pool for the January 31st gathering. This was accepted by World Cant Wait. However, on January 19, the organization received word that this area had been reclassified as part of a secure perimeter for that day.
In addition, the grass areas of the National Mall have been closed for turf renovation up to 7th Street. Thus, the proposed demonstration area is restricted to the gravel and concrete walkways of the national Mall between 3rd and 4th Streets.
