And it would push more moderates into the filibuster camp.

End result...Alito not confirmed and the filibuster stays.

No, we should only go nuclear when we have no choice.

If the moonbats think they can defeat the nuclear option, then they are even more detached from reality than they've led us to believe.

They would need seven senators to switch over-after Nelson bolts-in order to defeat it.

Even assuming for a moment that Collins, Chafee and Snow desert us, where will they find the other four votes?

Senator Bill Nelson (D-FL) says at first he considered supporting Alito, but now he doesn't because he's afraid Alito will be for a big central government. This is a clear example of a Democrat Liar spinning the issue. Nelson and the other Socialist-Democrats want an atheist who will support socialism. A Christian or a Catholic such as Alito will help prevent socialism. Nelson should pack his bags and head back to the orange grove. He's going to lose in 2006. When Kennedy, Kerry, Klinton and the ACLU say jump, Bill Nelson asks, "how high?".

No doubt McClellan worked on that for hours preparing for such a question. He isn't very bright. Good line though.

Voinovich, Alexander, Warner - anyone who is more concerned with the "institution of the senate" then winning, is a potential weak hand.

Conservatives can make it clear that any Republican Senator who failed to vote for the nuclear option would be viewed as a traitor, and would never make it past another primary or get another campaign contribution dollar.

Who on the GOP side do you doubt would vote for the nuclear option? Chaffee, Collins, and Snowe?

Not me.

There will be "no choice" by the end of January 2007.

The GOP is going to lose seats-it would be a miracle if we break even-in the Senate during the next mid-term election.

If we don't nuke 'em now then the only other opportunity we'll have is during a lame duck session.

I guarantee you, a year from now-if the Dems are not nuked-President Bush will be denied the opportunity to confirm any SC nominee, and very few-if any-lower court nominees.

The time is now!

So far 7 Democrat Senators oppose a filibuster but that is changing. It is dwindling.

that's why we need our senators to go on the record PUBLICLY for the nuclear option - that way if they flip for some reason when it comes down to crunch time, they can be challenged as to why.

So she did an about face then? She was on record as saying she would not vote for a filibuster.

And it would push more moderates into the filibuster camp.

Why do you believe that would happen?

The GOP will NOT lose seats, but will pick up seats in BOTH houses of Congress this year.

It isn't over yet.

My guess is that the MSM comes out with a poll over the weekend that says... “Half of American's Unsure of Alito”. This would give enough 'cover' for them to filibuster.

Given the weak-sister status of several Republican Senators... they'd be nuts not to go for it.
