Well, three Dems have already come out in favor of Alito. Assuming all the Republicans hold, we're just two votes from ebing able to shut down a filibuster without invoking the "nuclear option."

Something tells me the Dems will only filibuster if they know they don't have the votes to maintain it. They're trying to throw a bone to their wacko base.

Why on earth would we set the precedent of allowing a fillibuster of a supreme court nominee to stand?

Voting FOR Alito is different than voting to STOP filibuster - just keep that in mind re: some Dems who may bend over backwards now for the DU-loons but end up voting for Alito - even though I still think a sustained filibuster will not fly at this point as well.
