To: Howlin

I've got 3 kids. My 2 year old last week swallowed a peppermint, which I must add wasn't given to him, and came to me crying and holding his throat. At first I thought he was choking but then I heard him take a deep breath. He grabbed his throat again, so I bent him over and whacked him one between the shoulder blades. Out pops the candy!

Stuff certainly does happen.

Exactly. With my grandson, there were two adults and three other kids (under 5 of course) standing within six feet of him the entire time; nobody say him pick it up and swallow it.
