"But after I tell them I want him to vote no I'm gonna tell him it's because it'll be just that much easier to defeat him in this years election!"
Good idea!

Have all those Y's and N's already spoken, or is that tally just a guess by CSPAN.

maggief, I just wanted to say that if I replied everytime you cracked me up, I wouldn't have time to read the thread.
Thanks for the comic relief!

What you just posted, is the very reason that Frist and the GOP want to get this asbestos bill OVER WITH...from what I understand.

Kennedy has run the gammet. Alito is going to be in the pocket of the repubs. Will roll back 1964 civil rights acts. Hates poor people, minorities, and people of no standing. Will not PROTECT individual rights. And Alito hates people with diabetes.

Yep... 35 to 19...... and that spread got larger while Kennedy was speaking. I just wonder if repubs intentionally make their decision known while Kennedy is speaking.... just for fun.

Mark my words--all this grandstanding and Bush-bashing is going to come back and bite the dems in their collective butts this fall--let them have all the rope they want. They're just setting themselves up for a HUGE crash come election day.

Durbin should have been a math teacher. 11 years since last vacancies. ONE justice makes a difference (5-4). Decided 5-4. decided 5-4. Decided 5-4 Decided 5-4. decided 5-4. Decided 5-4 Decided 5-4. decided 5-4. Decided 5-4
Durbin loves O'Connor.
Durbin likes the way Sandra changed from conservative to libertarian position.
The legacy of Sandra Day O'Connor
There once was a justice named Sandy
Whose voice sounded sweet, just like candy.
Still, her mouth went and said,
"You can puncture its head!!
If a baby's not thought to be dandy."

They have not spoken on the floor. I believe I read on the screen earlier, that they were "public announcements" of their votes.
Anybody else who can chime in on this?

If the WTC had been completed with asbestos fire proofing (IIRC they had been partially insulated with asbestos and either had to rip it out or finished the upper stories with some sort of foam insulation), they may not have been weakened to the extent that they collapsed, or at least the collapse would have been delayed. Exactly.

I still, for the life of me, do NOT understand why GWB nominated Miers in the first place...still scratching my head over that one.
