It's a balance. Musharref has been generally helpful, but he can't do too much without getting himself killed.

Too many americans dont know that Pakistan has nuke..many of them, and will use them if provoked. Musharref always struck me as more friendly towards us than the Saudis, but like you say..he can only do so much.
