20 years ago? The law was put in place in the 1930s. It was just applied to the Internet this year - they didn't do this in 2004. From what I remember, they actually brought someone up on criminal charges, believe it or not. He won at trial and lost on appeal. He's appealing the appeal.

Well, in 2000 they charged someone. He took it to Court - the BC Supreme Court struck down the law on Constitutional grounds - so, for 2004, the law didn't apply. Then the BC Appeals Court reversed the Supreme Court, so now it's going to go to the Supreme Court.

I was just using 20 years ago as a point of reference (meaning, not in the age of the internet). This kind of thing might have worked in the 1930s, but global communication has expanded such to the point where a phone call here, a blog post there, and you have the numbers.
