You nearly believe this guy Gerstein gets it, until you read further. Gerstein describes the democrats angy grandstanding at the Alito hearings as "absurd insinuations". Yet in the end reveals his own absurdity with this comment, "...we must develop an alternative affirmative agenda that shows we can keep the country safer, make the economy stronger, and govern straighter than the ethically challenged Republicans".

Let's be honest, the Republican House and Senate haven't covered themselves with glory on the ethics front. That the Democrats got a share of the goodies, too, is beside the point; we expect corruption from them.
But GOP legislators went to Washington and wallowed in the mud and spent like drunken sailors. Something they were elected NOT to do.
Both sides of the aisle could stand a flushing.
