Thanks so much, Kat, for all the great boxes for Operation Crayon. My two are still here because I've had flu and fever this week.
DAVEY CROCKETT mailed 2 boxes of car magazines, one to Bagram and one to Ramadi last week.
Hope to be back on my feet soon.
Cheers!
I received e mail from our contact in Ramadi concerning the gel packs. He writes," I got the gel packs today. Thank you very much. I handed some to the medics who were shocked that you sent them too. They will use them for ice packs incase someone gets hurt. Most people gave me the "duhhh, I don't get it" look when I took them out of the box. When i explained that they could do with them, I slowly started to see their light bulbs brighten up na d then "ping" "oh yeah" and they started jabbering about this that and the other where they can use them".
I answered his mail and told him to let me know if they could use more of them.
He also mentioned that the weather has been nice. Only 90 or 100 degrees. I guess, in comparison, that is better than 130 or 140.
It was my pleasure. I think it was a throwback for me. Due to my family's financial situation when I was a kid I only had notebooks and pencils for most of my early years of school. Had to borrow crayons, glue, etc. from others. It wasn't a pleasant experience. [Oh, and I also had to walk to school thru the snowdrifts and it was uphill both ways, boo hoo]
