I spoke with tgslTakoma just a short while ago. The four corners surrounding the entrance to Walter Reed Army Medical Center are once again manned by members of the DC Chapter, the DC Chapter of Protest Warriors and also a number of young ladies from the Leadership Institute.
At last count there were just over 40 good guys and gals on all four corners at the entrance and there were 10 Code Pinkos midway down the street holding vigil on their newly permitted sidewalk areas -- well, they permitted BOTH sides of the street, but were only standing on one side.
Our intrepid reporter/photographer, tgslTakoma, walked to this midway point without signs, carrying camera and tripod, and intending to take some photos of the Code Pink group. She was immediately set upon by several CP members telling her she couldn't stand there to take pictures and that they had permitted a wide area including the sidewalk on both sides of the street. They stood in front of her and said tgslTakoma had to leave; so tgslTakoma stepped off the curb into the street telling them that she had every right to stand and take pictures.
What did the Code Pinkers do? Why, they followed her into the street to try to stand in front of the tripod and block any photos! Soon, they were all surrounding her and one of the CP gals was in the middle of the street (not a very smart place to stand!). tgslTakoma told them to go ahead and call the cops because the cops will tell them that their permit can't stop her from taking pictures. Though the Code Pinkos were very confrontational, they did not call for police backup.
Finally, tgslTakoma called for some reinforcements to come to her aid and help her get her camera and tripod back to the Walter Reed Troop Rally and Welcoming Committee at the corner of Georgia Avenue and Elder Street.
