But if it's germane to the First Amendment, it's likely to be quite illuminating.Two things interesting in this article. I knew that Reagan had to do with the end of the Fairness Doctrine, but not chapter and verse. Nat lays it out. And Henthoff indicates that SCOTUS has denigrated the idea that the government should censor broadcasting, back in '87. And yet SCOTUS upheld McCain-Feingold, which actually is a thinly veiled Fairness Doctrine case. That's incoherent.
Also interesting to see Henthoff say that that he appreciates Reagan more now than he did in the eighties. There's hope for him yet.
I didn't appreciate Ronnie in the 1970s. Then I voted for him twice. Amazing how long it takes for some of us to grow up (even a geezer like Nat).
