By 1980 Reid had been cleared of Agosto’s allegations by the Carter Justice Department (then also in the process of bringing about virtually no successful prosecutions in Billygate, Koreagate, ABSCAM, BCCI, or the investigation of cocaine use by Treasury Secretary Hamilton Jordan). A little fact checking would help here Fedora.
ABSCAM sent several people to Club Fed including a US Senator from New Jersey.
IIRC, BCCI wasn't under investigation until well after Carter left office. (It hit around the same time as the S&L scandal.
Hamilton Jordan was never Treasury Secretary (he was Carter's Chief of Staff) and to my knowledge, the cocaine thing was never "under investigation." It was Washington gossip column stuff after Carter left office.
I'm not defending Carter or Dirty Harry, but facts are important things to get right.
