Saw Frank do Muffin Man on two different occasions at Armadillo World Headquarters here in Austin. The second time was the last show at the Dillo.
The song on the record called Captain Beefheart was recorded live at the Dillo and it ranks way above the top ten.
Absolutely incredible.

My five favorite concerts, in order:
1. Zappa at Pauley Pavillion, Westwood--'Just Another Band From L.A.' recorded live (1974);
2. B.B. King in Redondo Beach (1999)
3. David Allen Coe at the Chrystal Palace, Bakersfield, CA (2002)
4. Ray Charles at Redondo Beach Theatre (2000)
5. Willie Nelson at the Arlington Theatre, Santa Barbara (1976)

Saw Capt. Beefheart at the Iowa Memorial Union in Iowa City, sometime in 69 or 70. The seating was on the festival (on the floor) and this didn't leave much room for my date and I. I had just filled up with gas at the Shell station and they were giving away steak knives as a promotion. When I took off my Navy pea-coat for us to sit on, the knife flipped out on the floor. People around us made sure there was plenty of room after that...

You never knew who might show up.
