Seriously, there's a lot that they kept away from him. He's difficult to work with in that he's opinionated (No! gasp!), he has to do everything himself and he has a tendency to belittle others
So no one wanted to go out of their way for this man. Imagine that, the Clintons likely treated staff better than he did. Or if not, there were at least perks to taking abuse from the twofer.
