Don't listen to your friends.

I'm coming up on 11 years, and while there are many aspects of being married that doesn't fit into the fairy-tale ideas that you had when you were engaged - it still beats dating, hands down. And regardless of what the more jaded folks on here may say, there is nothing like growing old with/sharing your life with another.

Absolutely. I was with her for 2 years before getting married. We're not like that, we've talked about it, and we'll work to not have a relationship like the article or what my co-workers describe. I think they screwed up by getting married too young and getting married just to get married.

We have a good division of labor in the house, have the same views about money, and are pretty easy-going about vacations and recreation, which helps a lot.
