Although it is still more than two years before the main parties in the United States decide on their candidates for the 2008 presidential election, it is widely assumed that the Democratic Party candidate will be the junior senator from New York, Hillary Clinton.
You might expect the political conversation among Democrats to be along the lines of "is Hillary electable" (given the preponderance of red states on the American political map) but as I discovered during a recent visit to the US, many in her natural base have already washed their hands of her.
[snip] At a dinner party in New York last week with a group that included writers, lawyers, a former senior staff member for the Clinton administration and a columnist for The New York Times, the hatred of Hillary Clinton was unconcealed. It was articulated with the passion of people scorned. Clinton has not just disappointed, she has betrayed them. I might have been more surprised at the way these Upper West Side liberals were slagging off at someone many of them would once have seen as a political ally, if not a personal friend, had it not been for a pretty savage piece in that week's New York magazine.
[snip] A far bigger complaint is not about her personality, but her politics. In recent months, Clinton has cosied up to the leading members of the "vast right-wing conspiracy" she once excoriated for trying to bring down her husband. (That was before she knew the truth about Monica Lewinsky.) Former House speaker Newt Gingrich torpedoed the "Hillarycare" health insurance plan in 1994 but that hasn't stopped her making recent common cause with him - on the need to reform health care......

Shucks - I just coined the words long ago - someone better at images than I'll ever be, did the thing.
To that anonymous FReeper whose name I'll never know - thanks!
You're exactly right. When the Left realizes the choice is between Hitlery and a moderate conservative they will support her full force.
bump
Run, Hillie, run.
It's dangerous to make political calculations on anecdotes from random NYC dinner parties. That being said, Hillary has an almost impossible task - convincing enough of America's heartland that she is fit to be Commander-In-Chief while at the same time appeasing the rabidly anti-military wing of her party. Slick could have walked that fine line (heck, he got elected twice even when we had evidence, in his own words, that he "loathed the military"), don't think Hillary has the skills.
Since I always enjoy your Toon Threads Pookie18, I found this Hillary joke and hope YOU get a laugh.
Hillary Clinton goes to a primary school in New York to talk about the world. After her talk she offers question time.
One little boy puts up his hand. The Senator asks him what his name is.
"Kenneth" he replies.
"And what is your question, Kenneth?"
"I have three questions:
First - whatever happened to your medical health care plan?
Second - why would you run for President after your husband shamed the office?
And, Third - whatever happened to all those things you took when you left the White House?"
Just then the bell rings for recess. Hillary Clinton informs the kiddies that they will continue after recess.
When they resume Hillary says, "Okay where were we? Oh, that's right, question time. Who has a question?"
A different little boy puts his hand up; Hillary points him out and asks him what his name is.
"Larry" he replies.
"And what is your question, Larry?"
"I have five questions:
First - whatever happened to your medical health care plan?
Second - why would you run for President after your husband shamed the office?
Third - whatever happened to all those things you took when you left the White House?
Fourth - why did the recess bell go off 20 minutes early?
And, Fifth - what happened to Kenneth???"
DO NOT BE FOOLED!!!!
The evidence is that Hillary has raised millions from loyal liberals all over the country. She has sucked the donation pipe dry for all other candidates.
Because she does not espouse the liberal drivel desired by the left does not mean she will not have their votes when it counts.
Thanks, had seen it before, but still enjoy it? BTW, you still have ~1 1/2 days until the voting deadline...
From 2002, Sex and Slavery: Hillary Clinton backs "voluntary" prostitution
For libs, what's not to love?
You two are dangerous.........this looks like a scary hillary pic double triple dog dare you contest to the end. Good luck to both of you.
The libs hated Kerry in the 2004 primary .. but they voted for him because of their hatred of President Bush
The DNC is hoping their voters will do the same in 2008
Run, Hillie, run!
Nothing but a smokescreen to fool some moderates into voting for her. Dont believe for one minute this is not orchestrated!
She doesn't stand a chance in the red states. She's already got a lock on the liberal bastions of this country.
