The world does not. The question is whether or not President Bush and the USA have the stomach for it.

The US is pinned down in Iraq at the moment. This is no doubt the cause of the rhetoric and actions coming out of Iran. To go after Iran at this time, the US will have to get on a full war footing with a military draft. We will need many more troops. The Middle East isn't the only region with tyrants looking for opportunities to engage in mischief.

Baloney. The tactical objective in Iran is to eliminate its nuclear capability. We could do it partially by air power, but more effectively by air strikes combined with landing military personnel at each nuclear site.

We don't have to occupy the country. We don't have to rebuild the nation. Once we decapitate the mullahs, we don't even have to take out their army. Let them duke it out between the pro-democracy crowd and the the Islamic crowd.

The diplomats will have a cow. That's another benefit.

I disagree with that. We do not *HAVE* to be in Iraq right now. We are choosing to nation build, something Bush promised not to do iirc.

If we had to go to war with Iran, we would forget about nation building in both Afghanistan and Iraq, both Iranian neighbors by the way, and go kick their ass.

Conventional thinking says we would fight them with a conventional war....Al la Iraq.

Conventional thinking is often wrong and thinking Bush will approach conflict with Iran conventionally is probably wrong. Thinking Israel would approach an attack on Iran conventionally is, in my opinion, folly!

Ummm... Pardon me, but don't we have 130,000 combat troops in Iraq as we speak? What about re-deploying the 100,000 to the Iranian theatre from places such as Germany, Eastern Europe Japan, etc? What about the M1's Abrahms, tons of aircraft, and a carrier battlefleet? 230,000 of the best trained troops using advanced combined arms tacticts and weaponry vs what? 70,000 Elite Iranian Republican Guards? Ok, I'll assume their entire military does not run like Iraq. My guess is that we will have them defeated within 120 days with the mad mullahs on the run like osama or dead.
