That is what Tom Clancey did in his book Rainbow Six.

He dropped the druid tree huggers off in South America naked and they were never heard from again.

What a great idea!

>>>>But you know once in a while even idiots can be right:). And to be honest it probably would be a dangerous thing to let Peta get horses banned from roads. That would be like the frog in the pot of water, and the heat slowly being turned up. So I'd probably hate to see that happen

Ewww, what a visual that gave me....

Well said though.

I will also have to disagree with you that I have formed my opinion on this issue with my heart:). I don't think so. First off, it's not for JUST the safety/comfort of the horses. IMO:), horses were meant to be USED. The backyard horse owners who ride or use their horse a few times a year....they need not be horse owners.

Streets. roads. are built for cars, trucks, etc. IMO, horses and vehicles are not a good mix. To much potential for PEOPLE to get hurt.

But like I said. The people with the horses are the ones that need to show more sense. But they're not, so we'll have to live with it.

I agree with this girl and Peta that horses don't belong in traffic, but I disagree that laws should be passed on the issue.

Can I ask, how much time have you spent with horses?

Becky

Yes I know that. Do they police out on roads, or isn't their main purpose to police in the parks???

I've seen them on roads.

I've seen them on roads in Newark NJ too.

Except for a short period in my youth when there was a ridding stable about a mile from my home, and it only cost a dollar an hour to "rent" a horse, not much.

The dollar an hour should provide you with a clue that that was a very long time ago.

I have nothing against horses, and would if I could go riding again, but perhaps that is more fond memories of a by gone time then a real desire to risk my life and limb (and butt) on a horse again.

I will concede your superior knowledge about horses, but will also point out those that manage the carriage rides must surely know about horses as well. I would furthe point out, since these animals represent their livelyhood, I doubt they would do anything that would really put them into real danger.

Acidents are called that becaue, they are often unforseen events. We can minimize danger, but not live our lives free of danger.

I would agin stress that the "good" that comes from these carriage rides be added to any risk that may occur.

If we were talking risk to animals, I would think a working horse on a cattle ranch would be in more danger then these carriage horses.

I understand you point of view, I don't agree with it, but I understand it.

But still, I don't believe horses belong in traffic.

I agree, except for the obvious exception where there are dedicated trails or pathways for horses and carriages. I take it that the situation in question was simply on "the Streets of New York". However, horses should be permitted to earn their keep and care, with humane treatment, for the same reason that we have zoos. They enrichen our lives in a natural way.

There's just no easy answer, as with most things.

No there's not, and horses don't talk in a way that's easy for humans to understand and I make no claim to hear their "whispers". The swish of a tail and the position of the ears is just about the extent of my horse vocabulary.

Something spooked the carriage horse, but one can only speculate about what ever it was.

As evidenced by this catastrophe...

Catastrophe? It was a regrettable accident, but this woman obviously has her priorities screwed up if she considers an injured man and a dead horse to be catastrophic.

Caused by global warming, which is caused by people using too many cars and not enough horses. That oughta mess with her mind a little. ;-)

This oughta mess with Stewert's mind also.
