And Ted's father and family were more or less kicked out of England at Churchill's request to FDR.

FDR was paying off a political debt with that appointment and was ecstatic that he could sack him.

I see you have delved into the Kennedy family history also. Old Joe was like the proverbial Christmas fruitcake that FDR couldn't get rid of. The internet is a wonderful thing - I would not know the little I do about the Kennedy family without it.
