ALL scripture is to be taken seriously...there's no doubt about that.

But the New Testament makes it clear that God's chosen expanded beyond Israel with Christ's coming.

An earlier poster on this forum said it was heresy to suggest that those redeemed by Christ were now the chosen.

That's what kind twisted doctrines you get when you interpret the prophets only in the light of current events.

LOL! The supercessionist practices a questionable hermaneutic, and a hermaneutic it really is. Many 'Christians' practice hermaneutics to deduce the meaning of the text. You know, Hermes the demi-god who explains what the g-ds meant to the pagan Greeks. Their weird hermaneutic is exactly as you describe it: Literal if it fits what I want it to say, and metaphor (or "poetry") if I don't like what it says.

How fitting. For interpretation of Scripture, using a method which is named for a pagan demi-god.
