Schumer was quite skillful in accomplishing what he wanted to do, which was put the picture of Alito saying back when that there was no constitutional right to abortion in a frame of other judges writing that they thought Alito was not following precedent. It is a good way to get folks who are pro Roe more nervous about Alito. The only misstep is that in the long list of 3rd circuit cases, Schumer accidently tossed out a life raft to Alito by adding one where apparently Alito cited a SCOTUS case, rather than ignoring 3rd circuit precedent per se, and was in the majority. Alito grabbed the raft, and hugged it. Schumer was probably saying to himself, "I hate when that happens."
The interchange will probably be about as good as it gets from an entertainment perspective.

I'm not so sure.
He kept harping on the fact that Alito doesn't believe in a "constitutional right to choice."
In other words, a Constitutional right to abort unborn children, which I'm pretty sure most Americans don't agree with either.
Charles Schumer doesn't play well West of the Hudson.

Schumer was quite skillful in accomplishing what he wanted to do HAAAAAAA! Sorry but this is incredibly naive. You do NOT accomplish things in politics by making yourself look thuggish and our of control. This may turn on the loony base of the Democrat party but Schumer's act did ENOURMOUS damage to the Democrats PR of being trustworthy with power. Schumer came across as an out of control Soviet Style Apparatchik at a show trial. It's like the Wellstone Memorial. It does NOT give the Independents a very good feeling about the Democrats ability to separate partisanship from power. That sort of histrionics may sell well in New York, it will NOT play anywhere outside of New York.
