Posing the question, to all FEMALE FReepers, that Rush just asked..talking about the sex-discrimination lawsuit just filed on Wall Street:

"How many of you would secretly LOVE to be hired for a job because you were 'eye candy'? "

I saw that story and those women are insane. And I make no secret that I would loooove to be considered eye-candy. :-)

Well, I'd love to be considered eye candy, but I wouldn't want to be hired on that basis!

Nope. Let me tell you why....

It's really rewarding doing a great job and being a success because it's a product of you doing a great job.

You have to work with co workers and others and you want to be respected for what you can do. No one wants the stigma of being a klunk.

That said, there are a lot of discrimination cases that could be avoided if the person really was interested in setting limits respectfully. Most men are good people. Sometimes you have to set limits. Sometimes you may have a miscommunication. But it doesn't get resolved if you assume that the man is a bad guy. He may be but what if he's not?

I will admit it....I would LOVE to know that I was being hired because I was "eye candy"...

Unfortunately...THAT was never an option for me! LOL

This kind of question, posed by whomever, is totally beyond insulting. I would guess that any woman would just as soon, "throw up" as have men gawk at her. "Am I right, ladies? RSVP

I am sure there are plenty of women who will answer yes to this but as a woman in business, who has worked on Wall Street, I would say they are neither women I would now hire or do business with. I will ask you, if you had a daughter, would you like that to be the basis of her employment and the relationships in her business world?
