I didn't learn this on the Internet. I learned it directly from an in-law who has family from Iran by marriage. Some of the Iranian relatives visited and reported the information.

There was an article in the NYTimes some time ago, an interview with a spy in Israel. On being asked her opinion on Bin Laden's fate, she said something like this: if he is dead/captured, the government will never let on because in the vacuum, the other would-be heads would just be asking themselves if he has gone further into hiding, if his communications networks have been interrupted, etc.. Plausibel, no?
