"LCD = annoying screen door effect."

You've said this twice (at least as far as the post I'm replying to) but really this is a subjective matter.

I have three LCD screens in the house: my 19" Viewsonic PC monitor (1440x900), wife's laptop (17", 1440x900), and the Panny LCD-RPTV (50", 1280x720) and none of them look, to me, as if they have a screen door effect.

OTOH, both my wife and I perceive a rainbow-shimmery effect on plasma screens which many others don't see.

You are correct. It is subjective. Best to compare one display against another in a store, playing HD source, etc.

I noticed it on an Westinghouse 1080p LCD (don't remember the model number) and a digital source (from my HD camcorder). The image looked "silvery." Could have been some kind of aliasing since my camcorder is 1080i and the monitor is 1080p.

And we were playing the video via a PC. It could have been my camcorder.

Note: same video looked fine on my DLP.

Have seen a similar effect when viewing pictures on my flat screen monintor on my PC.
