"And Lincoln actually did the Blacks no favor when he 'freed' them so they could work in the northern industrial explosion!"

So you think the slaves would have rather continued to work for free vs earning a paycheck? You can't be that ignorant. Reasoning like that would make Saddam proud.

Go back and study up on carpetbaggers. Plenty of former slaves had no interest in the 'freedom' Lincoln offered. You must remember that the parties have switched platforms since then!

I will go back and source this again for you and send it via p.m. And no, I am not ignorant. I'm an AKA alum, thank you.

Technically its true. Abraham Lincoln and most Northerners didn't fight the Civil War over slavery. They mainly fought the war in order to preserve the Union. The Emancipation Proclamation issued on January 1, 1863 only freed slaves in areas engaged in rebellion. It was a way to bring the South into submission during the war. Slavery was still legal in the states that did not secede. Abraham Lincoln also wanted to send the freed slaves back to Africa which is an interesting slant on the Great Emancipator.

But I'm a slave half of every year, having to work for free for almost six months just to pay my taxes. Where's our abolitionists?? When will we be set free?

Seems to me that FrouFrou is simply parroting the same thing I've been hearing lib/Democrats say for the past 40 years.

In fact, many lib/Dems profess no gratuity whatsoever, and instead seem mad because they still consider blacks to be living under the "slavery" of Republican leaders.

Go figure.
