Gen Pete Pace (Chairman, Joint Chief) is firing back at Rep Murtha in his Pentagon news conference.
He said that even with Murtha's distiinguished career, his comments were damaging to readiness, damaging to morale of the troops and is damaging to the families of those who are putting their life in danger.
Additionally, he said that Murtha's comments send the wrong message.

Hmm let me balance this, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs versus Murtha. Now which one has the better military credentials, and which one do I trust more for leadership? Very tough choice not.
I'll go with the Chariman.
He couldn't be more correct. Murtha is at best, irresponsible, at worst, treasonous.
I don't understand what these anti-war folks, especially those who have served, are thinking. Have they lost all reason and rationality?

I suppose there comes a time when irresponsible statements have to be countered by those in direct authority... not just by surrogates who'll champion your cause on your behalf.
Murtha's service records need to be scrutinized to determine whether Murtha's "decorations" were deserved or if they are the John Kerry variety.

Well PM, the old media will spin it by not reporting it. They will ignore it. Murtha is addicted to stupid statements now, as the OM will give him coverage. He has become a media whore, now he thinks he is a national figure, before he was a nobody. He is another OM creation, like a certain loony woman I won't name.
