she already has the job, she will be going to work for Chevron. If you live that way, what are the differences in these 3 cities? She has been raised in Houston, Texas.

I live in San Ramon as well.

Great school district, lots of new home construction on the east side of the 680 freeway. It’s an area that is brand new, no bad parts of town to worry about. Unfortunately, it's expensive, median home price somewhere in 700's the last I looked.

As has been stated the prices move downward as you head eastward toward the central valley. The problem there is the commute can be a real bear.

I hope she took the cost of living into account during her salary negotiation.

There's no real difference between the three cities you mention.

Danville and San Ramon are about the same thing. Walnut Creek is bigger and has a bigger downtown.

It's a nice place to live except for the drawbacks mentioned -- congested, expensive, too high end nowadays.

It is rural like though which is nice and why it became so expensive. All sorts of people moved to the area from other places. It became more liberal and wealthy.

OK, understood :-) --- well, there are various levels of housing. The rest of the living costs are about the same. High. Housing can be found in various classes from reasonable to obscene in costs. Looking toward outlying Pleasanton, even Livermore can make housing impact manageable. There are ranges. Living close to Chevron is good because the commuting from long distances can be a total nightmare. Good luck!
