These people are amusing in a bizarre kind of way.
The complaint is now that execution takes a long time and is costly? It is only expensive and drawn out because of the folks opposed to it that keep adding new roadblocks and lame red tape like "automatic appeal". Not surprisingly, most of this gobbledygook has been added via the court system.
This is their other end-run to abolishing the death penalty, folks. They seek to make it cost-prohibitive and too legally complex to make it worth doing.

And think of the good that could be done in communities with the money we now funnel into attorney's pockets over this. All of the funds wasted on housing them, appealing thier cases for them, getting them college degrees. All of this money could be so much more usefully spent. But, we're too busy giving the Tookies of the country supplies for artistic expression.
