You don't know that. Exactly my point, there are many "ifs" that could have change the course of the game. What really counts is what happened on the field after USC was leading by 12 points near the end of the game. Texas won - by a "whisker," because they sucked it up and grabbed the lead before the clock ran out of time. If there been more time, the pendulum may have swung back to USC - but that is another "if."

Agreed and therein lies another "if" in that the refs failed to stop the clock in the 4th quarter when the Longhorns went out of bounds. There are plenty of "ifs", but it is clear to me that USC handed them the game. Young was at his best and even with all SC's screw-ups, they were still in there. If you look at the stats, they were even a little ahead. Young was at his best. SC wasn't.
