Reid's words this moring indicate an assumption that debate on Alito will occur next week.
I think Specter made a mistake in not calling the Committee in yesterday, and forcing the formal record to be in order. Not that I doubt theCommittee vote will happen on the 24th, I think it will happen then. But not having the meeting shows "no consequences," not even the inconvenience of having to come in and go on the formal record.

I missed the start of the session,..what, if anything, of substance did they say???
Frist had said that NOTHING would get done before the Alito confirmation....so.....is this just going to be days of campaign funding speeches???
OR...is it going to be hour after hour of Quorum Call???

Today's session is for the swearing in of Menendez and nothing else. Frist isn't even there.
Frist's word regarding the Alito nomination is that AFTER he is voted out of Commmittee, Alito will be the sole business of the Senate. He hopes for an orderly and dignified ebate on the nomination (he says through Murkowski, who stood in for the leader this morning).

OH...thanks for the information...I wondered, because when I looked at C-span's schedule for today, last night---it had the Senate session scheduled for 10 HOURS!!!
I don't think they work that long during busy times--LOL

Thanks for the link, I think...dang, Bush just is having to fight 3 wars huh?
The terrorists, the dems, and NOW the conservatives?
Unfortunately, we the people, out here in the "real world", seem to waving our hands in support...BUT, we aren't going to get any attention....

Oh, he's on Hardball, too, whining about this.
Don't put it on us to bring something specific.
Hey, dimbulb, that IS your job.
I'm just asking. I'm not suggesting.
Isn't suggesting what they do all the time??
