Another great film from the 1960's that heroically depicts the Israeli struggle for independence is 'Cast a Giant Shadow'.. Its a true story about an American colonel who helped train the IDF. Kirk Douglas is cast as the American Colonel, David Marcus. I believe that Col Marcus is buried in Israel and the IDF views him as a founding father.
