I just reread it recently (found it packed away in a box with some other oldies but goodies like The Source and Hawaii and RF Delderfield and some others) and found it very powerful. It seemed very relevant in light of the last 4 years. My homeschooled kid is studying 20th century history this year and I added it to her literature reading list.

How many schooled kids will ever read that type of treatment of the origins of Israel ?

If the movie served only to get more people to read the book that'd be a good thing.

When Exodus was made in 1960, the socialist dream still existed in Hollywood and the USSR was not overtly anti-Israel. This started changing after the 1967 war, when Israel kicked Arab ass... and it just wasn't fair!

There's a good snippet of Hollywood and lefties war support at RedneckoBlogger: http://redneckoblogger.blogspot.com/

Ah, The Source, another good book on the nation of Israel, I loved it. In fact I still have it. I recommend it fairly often, but many people are put off by the size of the book. As with most Mitchner books it is rather a slow start, then you just can't put it down.

I loved that book. It was one of Michener's classics about the formation Israel from ancient to modern times.

Good morning.

Rereading Uris' Exodus and James Clavell's Whirlwind will make the need to win the WOT perfectly clear.
