The 'peace love and acorns' crowd would kill him in less time than one single Tookie appeal hearing took ...... Not that there is anything wrong with that!

This kinda changed the way I think about the mentally ill. There was the story on Court TV about the woman who killed her landlord, and this story
The Sights and Sounds of Schizophrenia describing how someone could look at a tv and see it talking to him. The scary think is we are all just one solid rap to the noggin from this stuff. Hate to say this but Hinkleys defense may be really valid.

He whose name shall never be mentioned wouldn't last 10 minutes on the outside.Maybe that's the answer for both of these guys. Free them. Let them out. Today.

Schmucky Schumer always looks like a sleazy lawyer.
Hey! He IS a sleazy lawyer!

Can any of us cite an example of an honest utterance by a "conservative psychologist"? Does this critter even, actually, exist?Check out John Rosemond. Liberals hate him so he must be saying somethings right.
To: FormerACLUmember
By the way, did you know that John Kerry, Howard Dean, and Michael Moore are all boinking Jodie Foster? Actually, I think it more likely she is boinking Hillary Clinton.

Great. Now we can employ another six or seven Secret Service Agents to tail him while he's out while we still maintain a bed and staff in the asylum for his return from his visits. Glad his parents get to see him no matter the expense and risk to others. /sarc

Hate to say this but Hinkleys defense may be really valid. I agree, I think he really was delusional when he shot Reagan. The question is, should we let him out so he can do it again?

PEST syndrome ??? /chuckleLOL.
The way he described it, was alot of liberals becoming delusional and letting political beliefs effect their own personal lives.
He believes that politics, and the political atmosphere of today, allows alot of mentally ill people to use politics as a cover for their own problems.
The example he gave to me, which makes some sense though I do really think liberalism is a mental illness (he doesn't) is that if a guy who claims he is straight went out into public wearing a bra and panties rambling about the plight of cockroaches, we would call him nuts, but if he does the same thing protesting the war in iraq, suddenly, no one blinks an eye and we call him a political activist, the media overlooks the get up and cares about the message, even though the guy is dressed like an ass and just looking for attention.

Valid or not, a man who assassinated the President should not be allowed out of the ward.
Besides, there should be -some- degree of culpability when one is insane. Otherwise, drunks would never be charged for anything.

I agree with you, he needs to remain in the ward. His cheese has slipped off the cracker and there is no going back.
The truly mentally ill, deserve a safe place, for they are all ready trapped in a prison of their own mind. They are in a sad situation.
Drunks are a completely different class of people, and should not be allowed to pass as insane. Drunks can change if they want to, it is simply a mater of wanting to.

At this stage and given his compliance with the conditions of shorter term releases, there is nothing inappropriate about these new restrictions.
