Quote:
The Canadian plan was developed by the country's director of military operations and intelligence, a World War I hero named James Sutherland "Buster" Brown. Apparently Buster believed that the best defense was a good offense: His "Defence Scheme No. 1" called for Canadian soldiers to invade the United States, charging toward Albany, Minneapolis, Seattle and Great Falls, Mont., at the first signs of a possible U.S. invasion.
-snip-
Brown's idea was to buy time for the British to come to Canada's rescue. Buster even entered the United States in civilian clothing to do some reconnaissance.
"He had a total annual budget of $1,200," said Rudmin, "so he himself would drive to the areas where they were going to invade and take pictures and pick up free maps at gas stations."

WTF is this?
I'd take Alberta, Saskatchewan, and the Yukon. Maybe BC even.

Invading Canada would be pretty easy. French Canada would capitulate immediately, and we could just go to their gun registry to neutralize their armed population.
Since they don't really have an Army, Air Force or Navy, the rest would be cake.

Hey, they have an air force (at least when both of the 130s are running) ;)

"Invading Canada would be pretty easy."
Heck, just tell the IRS to start billing them.
To: quidnunc
Better yet, just wait until they disarm and send a cub scout troop up to accept their surrender.

I think those C-130's are leased, and the lease has a very strict 'not to be used in armed conflict' provision.
They could use them in a war, but they'd be hit with a serious penalty at the end of the lease.

When this was planned, Canada actually had a military.

What the Post does not tell you is that the British had a war plan to invade the US. (Or so I have read some time ago in Staff College) Do not remember if it included Canada but I am sure that it did as Canada was a part of the British Empire. And then came WW II and the empire went down so we have the left-wing Canadians today wanting to impose their wrongful ideals on us (US) again.

I would think that we still have plans worked out to invade any country on earth, just in case.

They left out the bit where Confederate guerrillas entered Vermont from Canada and robbed (four?) banks of about $300,000. Although the Canadian (actually British at the time) authorities soon arrested the Confederates and interned them for the duration of the War, the money was never recovered. $300,000 'll buy a lot of Molsons, 'specially in 1865.

"The United States government does have a plan to invade Canada. It's a 94-page document called "Joint Army and Navy Basic War Plan Red," with the word SECRET stamped on the cover. It's a bold plan, a bodacious plan, a step-by-step plan to invade, seize and annex our neighbor to the north. It goes like this: "
I thought RED was England, and CRIMSON was Canada.

One or twice a year a story comes out that the USA has a plan to attack some specific country or another. Here is a hint, the USA has a plan to attack every country.
It is a job of a country's military to devise plans to attack other countries and how to defend from attack. I would imagine that Canada has a plan on how to invade the USA, no doubt labeled "Suicide 101".
To: Little Pig
They also have a navy (but the West Edmonton Mall has more submarines).
To: keithtoo
Wouldn't that be a kicker? Ok, Canada, we're here to accept your surrender, and oh by the way, you owe us (insert large sum here) for using those planes during the conflict.
And while we're at it, we'll give you a paper cut and pour lemon juice on it.

I was just driving along I-95 in Florida and I realize how easy it would be to take control of Canada. Just wait until winter and walk in uncontested because they're all down here in Florida!
Just kidding, but maybe they could just stay home and mail us the money so we could still go to restaurants and golf courses in "winter". Hehe.

If you read the full article(I realize nobody actually reads excerpted articles) they discuss the Canadian plans to invade the US.
