Wheelchair Stolen From Woman In Puyallup
POSTED: 11:10 am PST December 29, 2005
PUYALLUP, Wash. -- Pierce County sheriff's deputies are asking for the public's help in finding two men who stole a woman's wheelchair as she looked on.
The 55-year-old woman, Diane Daugert, has cerebral palsy.
Sheriff's spokesman Ed Troyer said she was driving the electric wheelchair Monday near Puyallup when its battery died. She started walking for help when two men drove up in a white SUV, loaded the wheelchair in the back and laughed and waved as they drove off.
The wheelchair is worth more than $3,000. It's burgundy in color and has "Scooters of America" written on the back.
Crimestoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 to help catch the thieves.
Call Crimestoppers at (253) 591‑5959 if you have any information.
Are you sure? I postulate that the SUV couldn't get the chair loaded itself, so it likely forced these two men into doing it.
That goes without saying.:')
