This explains a lot but I'm afraid adults (not kids, they'll all love it) won't get it unless they read the books.

Instead of holding strictly to the books the producers should have taken some literary license and attempted to set the table a little better.

For example, when Lucy is sitting with Tumnas in his abode, he mentions the Ice Queen but could also have given a very brief but informative explanation of where she and her evil powers came from and how they effect all of Narnia.

I don't think the Narnia characters in LWW know where the witch came from. That is what awaits in The Magician's Nephew.
