I'm usually pretty diligent about not opening email I don't recognize or think of as "junk."

Me too. The catch for me, though, is that in my work I communicate a *lot* with non-native English-speakers around the world and Lotus Notes (my e-mail system up until a couple of days ago, we're back to Outlook*) will not render some of their names, in particular Japanese and Russian names, so I too often end up opening spam from Russia, just because it may be from a colleague.

The killer is the amount of stuff I ought to be doing Monday and Tuesday, but at least I have a fallback position wherein I can complete the essential elements in a half-day with only Microsoft Word available. (When I called the technical society's editor this morning to tell him about the volume of material I'm about to unload on him, he almost choked.)

* On my laptop the icon for "Outlook" gets renamed "Seall a-Mach!": Gaelic (loosely) for "Look Out!"
