I don't think it's infected as yet. We just got them pierced right after Thanksgiving (her first, my second) and she's just been SO dying to wear different earrings. She wore some wires yesterday and I think they were too heavy. So she followed up with some posts today, but they're cheapies ("But mom, they cost FIVE DOLLARS at Claires!") and I'm sure they're nothing more than junk metal. Ai-yi-yi!
