Well, I minimized it. Went to a small (4 other participants) "Blessing of a Civil Wedding" for a friend, then a reception after. (Set up the hall, decorated, celebrated, took down the decorations, cleaned and came home.)
Did NOT want to spend the day at this, given what's going on with the legislature, but... our friend is 58 and has never before been married (and until marriage, um, innocent in certain things). And life has not treated her all that well; for some years she's been living with the private support of a group here, over and above what the state provides.
There's a lot I'm not going to say, other than her new husband (whom I met for the first time today) passes the test in a number of ways, but... I have never before seen our friend (with whom we shared a house for a time 13 years ago) so happy, relaxed, and without the so-familiar worry-lines. She looked years younger.
Isn't it nice when things come together like they should? My nephew's wife was 36 when they got married, and she was " ...um, innocent in certain things..." but from all appearances, it's a Match Made In Heaven!
Stay low today, if you can.
