It would seem that "trading" was much more "global" than most people thought, even in the 20th Century.

"Global" was much smaller 2,000 years ago than it is now. The Greeks ran a widespread olive/olive oil trade. To the east, of course, spices and tea--but that was much later down the road.

And there were silks and furs and spices, such as myrrh and frankensense...gold....salt..cedar...the list was endless, actually.
